Gary Case, owner of Signature Elevators & Accessible Design, LLC, has a wealth of experience building & remodeling single family & town homes. First in the 80’s in Prince Georges, Ann Arundel & Montgomery County MD. Beginning in the 90’s he was heavily involved in the gentrification of Washington DC and Arlington VA building a company of 16 employed craftsmen. “I understood quickly that if you want high quality work in the remodeling industry you cannot follow the new construction model of sub-contracting everything out.” In 2006 Gary was thinking things might come to a screeching halt just before they actually did. “I was convinced it was time to stop buying dilapidated houses to remodel and start a new less capital-intensive business where I could utilize the skill set of my employees.” Concurrently Gary and his crew took on an extensive remodel in Mount Pleasant in NW Washington DC for Carl Ludvik and Oscar Mirabel. Carl was in a wheelchair and Oscar had one leg. They were basically trapped in their own home. We installed our first elevator a four stop, our first outdoor wheelchair lift a hydraulic, our first accessible bathroom with a patient lift and our first accessible kitchen. “I don’t know what I was thinking but I was passionate about helping Carl & Oscar. Its hard to believe that was 2008.”
